Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. It is the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine until the west. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay in the city was brief. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. In her early years she hoped to become a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. A Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. After I became too big for my male companions, I quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the instance of Brugel,, it was the result of a recommendation from her teacher of drama. One of her teachers suggested she try out for a school play. She was chosen to play the lead part in Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few instances in the initial season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the sole Canadian participant.
